The Battlefield Architect
The Engineer doesn't fight alone. Deploy turrets for sustained damage, drones for support, mines for area denial. You control the battlefield geometry. Solo: your deployables do the heavy lifting while you manage. Coop: force multiplier, buff stations and zone control make everyone better.
Deployable Arsenal
Deploy up to 2 turrets with different types: damage, slow, or heal. Can be repositioned on the fly to adapt to shifting combat.
Personal drone companion that follows you into battle. Can be set to attack, defend, or scout mode depending on the situation.
Place proximity mines with different payloads: damage, stun, or slow. Area denial that punishes enemies for moving where you don't want them.
Deploy ammo recharge or shield recharge stations. Essential in group play — turning any position into a fortified strongpoint.
Key Skills
Deploy ALL deployable types simultaneously and overcharge them for 12 seconds. Massive battlefield control — turrets, drones, mines and stations all active and supercharged at once.
Heavy turret with auto-targeting that lasts 30 seconds. Can switch between rapid fire and beam mode. Your bread-and-butter sustained damage tool.
Release 6 micro-drones that hunt nearby enemies. Each drone explodes on contact, clearing clusters and punishing grouped targets.
Deployables placed near each other get +20% effectiveness. Rewards tight placement and strategic clustering of your arsenal.
The Discovery
Start: Salvage Yard Korvus.
You work for old Korvus, scrapping ships for parts. Honest work, simple life. Then Korvus buys a wreck lot — cheap, sight unseen. As you take it apart, you find a component that matches nothing in any database. It reacts to your tools, gives off a faint signal.
You build a scanner to analyze it. The result: Builder technology. Ancient, impossibly advanced, and very, very valuable. Korvus wants to sell it on the black market — quick credits, no questions. But you know it's bigger than that.
Korvus calls buyers, including Nexus Corp. You must secure the component and escape. Tutorial: turret placement, drone control, traps. You fight your way out of the salvage yard and off-world.
You arrive at Eridan Station with a Builder component that integrates into your equipment, changing everything.
Builder Component — ancient technology that integrates with your engineering equipment. Becomes relevant in Act 2.
Technical genius, can identify unknown tech. Unique engineering dialogue options with NPCs.
Who Should Play Engineer
For players who like strategic setup, controlling the battlefield, having minions do their bidding. You think ahead, place your tools, and watch the plan come together. You don't just fight — you architect the fight.
Best zone control. Force multiplier in groups. Strong sustained damage through deployables.
Setup time required. Weak without deployables. Deployables can be destroyed.
